A 23 year-old Regina male is facing a charge of Robbery after an incident on Sunday, May 19th.
At approximately 8:19 p.m., on Sunday, May 19, 2019, police were dispatched to a business in the 3500 block of 5th Avenue, for a report of a robbery. The initial information indicated a male entered the store, allegedly stole some merchandise and then pulled a bladed weapon on the staff person present. The officer responding was able to view video at the store and relayed information about the suspect to other police units. A male, matching the same description as the suspect male, was located near 7th Avenue and Elphinstone Street. Police found him to be in possession of a bladed weapon, allegedly the one described by the victim and seen in the video. Fortunately, the victim of the robbery was not physically injured.
Twenty-three year-old Patrick James AKAPEW, of Regina, is charged with Robbery, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. AKAPEW made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court, at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
