Police were dispatched to a four-vehicle collision near the east side of the city this morning which, fortunately, resulted only in relatively minor injuries.
The collision was reported just after 8:00 a.m. in the east bound lanes of Victoria Avenue near Aurora Boulevard (between Memorial Gardens and the Aurora Retail Centre). Preliminary investigation indicates there were three vehicles stopped for a red light in the east-bound lanes. One of these vehicles, third in line, was a 24-passenger bus with 15 people aboard. A fourth vehicle, also east-bound, appears to have rear-ended the bus, pushing it forward and causing a chain-reaction collision with the two vehicles ahead of it. EMS was requested for what were determined to be relatively minor injuries.
The driver of the fourth vehicle was issued a Summary Offence Ticket under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without due care and attention. Motorists travelling east of the city may have noted some police and emergency responder activity earlier, but the scene is now clearing.
