A 70 year-old male is facing 12 charges as the result of an investigation into stolen vehicles, trafficking in stolen property and alleged tampering with Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN).
This investigation has been ongoing since June of 2018 and initially involved four stolen vehicles, believed to be associated to a vehicle sales and rental company in the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue. Ongoing investigation culminated in the arrest, on September 17, 2019, of a 70 year-old suspect. At the time of arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a 5th stolen vehicle, stolen from Calgary. A search warrant for the business was carried out and investigators located and seized additional stolen vehicle parts and other evidence. The suspect was initially charged with 12 charges involving vehicle theft and trafficking in stolen goods, and VIN tampering. The investigation is ongoing.
Seventy year-old Maurice Joseph AUBICHON, of Saskatchewan Beach, is charged with:
- 5 X Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC];
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [355(b) CC];
- 4 X Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime [355.2 CC]; and
- 2 X Tampering with Vehicle Identification Number [353.1(1) CC].
AUBICHON was released on an Undertaking to appear in Provincial Court on October 31, 2019.
