On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police received information of an assault. A complainant reported that a male, in the complainant’s vehicle, was the victim of an assault with a bladed weapon, and that the armed assailant was believed to be behind them in another vehicle.
Police located the complainant’s vehicle. EMS arrived and the victim, a 31 year-old male, was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle in the Dieppe area and observed the suspect leave the vehicle on foot. The suspect, a 17 year-old male, was located, arrested, and subsequently charged. A weapon was not recovered.
A 17 year-old, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Assault with a weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Fail to comply with undertaking [CC 145(3)];
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88]; and
- Mischief Under $5,000 [CC 430(4)].
The youth makes his first appearance in Provincial Youth Court on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
