A 14 year-old youth is charged after investigation into assaults that occurred in summer.
On July 30, 2019, at approximately 9:05 p.m., a male was in a parking lot at a shopping center on the 2100 block of Prince of Wales Drive when a group of young males asked him for the time. One of the males then threw the contents of a coffee cup all over him, and the males ran away, to another nearby shopping center parking lot. A similar incident followed where coffee from a cup was thrown on another male, who was sitting outside. Neither victim was physically injured. A recording of the second incident was posted on Facebook by one of the males.
As a result of investigation, and with assistance from Saskatchewan RCMP, members of the Wadena detachment located a 14 year-old Wadena area male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon [267(A) CC].
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court in Regina on December 5, 2019.
