On Saturday, December 28, 2019, at approximately 4:55 p.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of 2nd Avenue North and Arthur Street for a report of a single motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians.
Early stages of the investigation indicate that the vehicle was eastbound on 2nd Avenue North at Arthur Street and failed to stop for two pedestrians crossing northbound on 2nd Avenue North, east of Arthur Street. The vehicle struck both pedestrians, a 32 year-old female and an 8 year-old male.
The 8 year-old male was transported to hospital by EMS for injuries described as serious, but not life threatening. The female pedestrian declined medical treatment. The male driver, and lone occupant, of the eastbound vehicle was uninjured.
Members of the Traffic Safety Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene to assist patrol members with the investigation.
Police investigation into this incident continues.
