Two people: a 38 year-old male and a 30 year-old female, are facing charges after a stolen auto incident in Regina yesterday.
At approximately 7:10 a.m., on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Wessex Place for a report of a stolen auto in progress. The victim indicated she believed an acquaintance had stolen the key fob for the vehicle, facilitating the theft. The victim was able to contact OnStar and the vehicle was immobilized in the 2300 block of Ottawa Street. There were police officers in the area, who apprehended two people from the vehicle without incident. The investigation led to charges against the two in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
Thirty-eight year-old George Gabriel LONGMAN, of the Punnichy District, and 30 year-old Chantelle Kristen BIRD, of Regina, are jointly charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle [333.1(1) CC].
In addition, George LONGMAN is charged with:
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC];
– Breach of Recognizance [145(3) CC] ;
– Breach of Probation [733.1(1) CC]; and
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance (methamphetamine) [4(1) CDSA].
In addition to the Theft of Motor Vehicle charge, Chantelle BIRD is charged with Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC].
Both BIRD and LONGMAN made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.
