A 47 year-old male is charged with Sexual Interference and Sexual Assault as the result of an investigation by the Regina Children’s Justice Centre, a specialized integrated unit of the police service that combines police investigators with social workers to investigate allegations of child abuse.
In many sexual abuse investigations involving child victims, there is a chance that naming an accused person may also have the consequence of identifying the victim of the crime(s). For that reason, news releases about sexual assaults committed on children are infrequent. In this case, police learned of an alleged sexual assault on a 13 year-old girl. The suspect in the case was a 47 year-old male, an acquaintance of the victim, but not related to her. As a result of a two-month long investigation, the male was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
Forty-seven year-old Antoine James QUEWEZANCE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Sexual interference [151 CC]; and
- Sexual assault on a person under 16 [271 CC].
QUEWEZANCE was released on a recognizance and will make his first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on March 11, 2020.
