On Saturday, February 1, 2020, at approximately 1:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Saskatchewan Drive for the report of a weapons offence. Information provided was that a male had physically assaulted a female. A security guard intervened and was also allegedly assaulted by the male. A knife was also reported to be in the male’s possession.
Police located the male suspect, walking with a female, believed to be the victim of the physical assault. The two were located the west alley of the 2000 block of Hamilton Street. The male suspect got into a struggle with officers; the female fled during the altercation. The male sustained injuries described as minor; he was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment. This investigation is ongoing with police searching for the female victim in order to obtain her statement.
Forty-two year-old Nelson Tony KAHNAPACE, of Regina, is charged with:
- 2 X Assault [CC 266];
- Fail to comply with probation order [CC 733.1(1)]; and
- Resist police officer [CC 129(A)].
KAHNAPACE made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Monday, February 3, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.
