A 26 year-old male is facing charges of attempted murder after an assault on Saturday afternoon.
On February 1, 2020, at about 1:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of Retallack Street for a report of a weapons offence. Upon arrival, police found an injured male inside the home. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were described as serious.
Witnesses reported to police that the victim was stabbed and a suspect was identified. Police quickly located the suspect nearby. He provided police with a false name, but officers were able to confirm his identity and he was taken into custody. As a result:
26 year-old Vernon Joseph PELLETIER has been charged with:
- Attempted Murder [CC 239]; and
- Obstruct Peace Officer [CC 129 (a)].
PELLETIER made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning (February 3, 2020).
