Two adults and a youth are facing charges in connection with the execution of a CDSA search warrant yesterday. This operation was carried out by the Regina Police Service Crime Reduction Team, assisted by Patrol, Property Crimes, NWEST (firearms experts) and animal protection.
As the result of ongoing investigation into illicit drug trafficking in the city of Regina, police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at approximately 1:00 p.m. yesterday (February 14, 2020) at a residence in the 1000 block of Rae Street. In the search, police located drugs, including fentanyl and cocaine; drug paraphernalia, including scales, packaging and cash; ammunition and weapons including four prohibited firearms, bear spray and brass knuckles. A number of people were taken into custody without incident and upon further investigation, three individuals were charged.
Fifty-one year-old Peter Daniel COTE and 41 year-old Lisa Marie BRASS, both of Regina, are jointly charged with 13 weapons and drug related charges:
– Possession of a scheduled substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking [5(2) CDSA];
– Possession of a scheduled substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking [5(2) CDSA];
– 2 X Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations [86(2) CC];
– 3 X Possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace [88 CC];
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm [91(1) CC];
– 2 X Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon [91(2) CC];
– 2 X Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition [95(1)(a) CC]; and
– Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime [96(1) CC];
A 17 year-old male youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing a total of 16 charges:
– 2 X Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations [86(2) CC];
– 3 X Possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace [88 CC];
– Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized [92(1) CC];
– 2 X Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized [92(2) CC];
– Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition [95(1)(a) CC];
– 2 X Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition [95(1)(b) CC];
– Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime [96(1) CC];
– 4 X Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition [117.01(1) CC];
Both BRASS and COTE were released on an Undertaking to appear in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2020.
The accused youth was released on an Undertaking to appear in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on March 26, 2020.
