An adult male is facing charges as the result of a police investigation into the allegation of a serious domestic assault in the 5100 block of Sherwood Drive.
At approximately 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, police attended a residence on the 5100 block of Sherwood Drive for a report of a domestic assault. The lone occupant of the residence refused to comply with police requests to exit the house. Regina Police Service Crisis Negotiators attended the scene and were able to make contact with the male who was inside the residence. Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT) also attended to the scene. At approximately 12:40 p.m., after negotiations, a male exited the residence and was taken into custody.
A 32 year-old male has been charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm [CC 267 (B)]; and
- Forcible Confinement [CC 279 (2)].
As this is an incident of domestic conflict, the accused’s name will not be released by the Regina Police Service as to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused made his first appearance on the charges in Provincial Court this morning (Monday, March 9, 2020) at 9:30 a.m.
