An adult male has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 54 year-old male at a residence on Fisher Street, last week. This is the seventh homicide in Regina in 2020.
Police were first called to a residence on Fisher Street at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020. When police arrived, they saw a male fleeing from the residence on foot. This individual was detained by police. Police also located an injured 53 year-old female. She directed police inside the house where they found a male, who had sustained serious injuries. The officers performed CPR on the male victim until EMS arrived and advised that the male was deceased. Patrol members then secured the scene and requested the Coroner, as well as the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units.
The deceased male was later identified as 54 year-old Jones Raymond OAKES, of Regina. Further investigation into this event resulted in charges against a 31 year-old male.
Thirty-one year-old Joseph Delaney OAKES, of no fixed address, Regina, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon, section 267(a) of the Criminal Code;
- First-Degree Murder, section 235(1) CC.
Joseph Delaney OAKES will make his first court appearance on these charges at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2020.
