Charges have been laid after investigation into criminal activity, which resulted in a deployment of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team which was the subject of a previous news release.
On the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2020, the Regina Police Service Street Gang Unit executed a CDSA search warrant at a 1600 block Toronto Street residence. A search yielded firearm ammunition, and substances believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl. As a result of investigation, a 35 year-old male was arrested and charged.
Thirty-five year-old Tony James THOMPSON, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of firearm ammunition contrary to prohibition order [CC 117.01(1)];
- 2 X Fail to comply with release order [CC 145(5)(A)];
- Possession of a scheduled substance (methamphetamine) [4(1) CDSA]; and
- Possession of a scheduled substance (fentanyl) [4(1) CDSA].
THOMPSON made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Friday, May 8, 2020.
