A 16 year-old male youth is facing charges in connection with three robberies that occurred in Regina in February of this year. A female, who was 17 years old at the time, is also co-accused in one of the cases.
A brief synopsis of these robberies follows:
- On February 18, 2020, three male suspects entered a business in the 3000 block of 13th One of the suspects had a long knife and demanded cash and merchandise. The males escaped before police were called.
- On February 20, 2020, two males entered a business in the 3100 block of 5th They confronted the staff in the store, but they left without getting anything.
- On February 25, 2020, two individuals entered a business in the 3000 block of 13th One of the suspects was a male who was carrying a machete. The suspect confronted an employee and demanded money. The other suspect, a female, helped the male suspect by holding the bag to take the money and products from the store.
At this time two people: a male and a female, are charged in connection with the February 25th robbery. The same male is the only person charged so far in connection with the other two robberies. Both were arrested and charged on July 22nd. Investigation is ongoing.
The accused persons cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 16 year-old male youth is charged with: 3 X Robbery [344(1)(b) CC];
The female, who was 17 at the time, is charged with Robbery [344(1)(b) CC].
Both individuals have already made their first appearances on the charges before Youth Court.
