Hearts in the Park
We are very pleased to invite and welcome you to attend a special community event on May 29th, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Regina’s downtown Victoria Park. This event will raise the level of awareness of the effects and impacts of violence in our community, particularly as it affects victims.
Circle Project, Regina Police Service, University of Saskatchewan College of Nursing (Regina Campus) and SOFIA House have once again teamed together to bring the community of Regina an event called “Hearts in the Park.”
This event will be held during National Victims and Survivors of Crime week. It will be an opportunity for people to learn how to access resources for both victims and perpetrators. It will also help people to recognize the signs of violence; understand the cycle of violence; and learn ways to create positive change in our community. This year’s theme is “Putting our hearts together. The power of collaboration.” By writing the relationship of someone we know who is affected by violence onto a heart and hanging it in the park we are showing individuals that they have a personal investment in ending violence in our community.
Highlights of the event will include the opening ceremony, hanging of the hearts, speakers from the partners, youth speakers, entertainment and will end with a round dance.
