Neighbourhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a group of people living in the same area who want to make their neighborhood safer by working together. Neighborhood Watch (NW) groups have traditionally mobilized via regular meetings to plan how they will accomplish their goals and task leaders with specific responsibilities. In recent years, social media has become a convenient way for groups of people to share information.
A grassroots approach to community safety and well-being, NW empowers individual citizens and collectives to become active in their community.
There is no prescribed way to organize a NW group. Regardless of the structure, it is important to take into account the needs of your community. When forming and organizing a Neighborhood Watch collective, ensure that you have designated leaders. These individuals will be responsible for the planning and coordinating information and potential activities. As your Watch becomes more advanced, the members may form an oversight team to assist in the groups functions. Regardless of structure, it is most important to have community members that are excited to contribute to their community.
