The Regina Police Service is releasing the ages of the two victims in the firearms incidents from overnight.
At approximately 3:46 am, on Saturday, May 22, 2010, police were dispatched to a house in the 1400 block of Garnet Street for a firearm call. The incident occurred in the back yard of a house in the 1400 block of Garnet Street. A 21 year-old female was transported to hospital with a gun shot wound; she was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:55 am. This is now a homicide investigation. The name of the deceased will not be released until next-of-kin are notified. Police are working with the office of the Chief Coroner.
At approximately 4:06 am, on Saturday, May 22, 2010, police were dispatched to a house in the 1100 block of Wascana Street for a firearm call. The incident occurred on the street in front of a house in the 1100 block of Wascana Street. A 21 year-old male was transported to hospital in serious condition.
At this time police are gathering information and conducting two separate investigations. There is nothing to indicate a connection between these two incidents; however, this is something our investigators will be looking into. Both investigations are active and ongoing.
