This release is an update to a May 28th news release indicating charges against two male youths in connection with a robbery that occurred at about 3:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of Robinson Street, in which a 17-year-old male was sprayed in the face with a substance believed to be bearspray and robbed of clothing; and a shooting that occurred at about 4:06 a.m. in the 1100 block of Wascana Street, involving a 21-year-old male victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the torso. These same accused youths are now facing additional charges in connection with these two incidents.
Neither of the accused may be identified in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. One of the accused is now 17 years old; the other is 15 years old. The 17 year-old is charged with Careless use of Firearm [86(1) CC]; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [91(1) CC] and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle [94(1)(b) CC]. The 15 year-old is also charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle [94(1)(b) CC]. The charges were dealt with in a Youth Court appearance this morning, Monday, June 07, 2010. The investigation into these matters is ongoing.
