At approximately 5:12 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, police officers on routine patrol came across a male lying on the ground in the area of 8th Avenue and Rae Street in Regina. EMS was called to the scene and confirmed the male was deceased. The officers secured the area, requesting additional resources, including the Coroner, Major Crimes and Forensic Identification investigators.
Investigators are treating this death as a homicide, pending the outcome of the autopsy ordered by the Coroner. The male victim has been identified and notification to has been made to his next of kin. The victim is a Young Person; therefore, his identity will not be made public by police.
At this early stage in this investigation, police have not made arrests or laid charges.
