Two males, ages 14 and 19, have been charged in connection with an incident early this morning involving thefts from a number of vehicles in Regina’s Kensington Greens neighbourhood.
At about 3:51 a.m., on Friday, September 30, 2011, police received a call from the 300 block of Rodenbush Drive reporting three males acting suspiciously and trying the door handles of vehicles parked on the street. The caller was able to provide police with descriptions of two of the suspects. Police arrived and apprehended one male matching the description given; the other two males fled on foot. A canine unit officer and dog were able to track a suspect to a yard about a block away and found a second male, matching the suspect description, hiding in some bushes. This individual was also taken into custody. The third person was not apprehended. Police also recovered a backpack containing numerous items, including: two GPS units, sunglasses, a large amount of change, casino chips, a screwdriver, a knife, two sets of keys and drug paraphernalia. Investigation led to charges against the two in custody. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
The fourteen year-old cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 19 year-old is Cody Michael GORDON, DOB: 1991-10-26, of Punnichy,SK. Both face charges of Theft under $5,000 [334(b) CC] and Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000 [355(b) CC]. GORDON is also charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon [90 CC]. The 14 year-old will make is first court appearance in Youth Court on November 1, 2011. GORDON will make is first court appearance in Provincial Court on November 1, 2011.
