The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into a vehicle/pedestrian collision this morning (Dec. 7th) that sent one adult male to hospital with serious injuries.
At 7:03 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, police were dispatched to a vehicle/pedestrian collision at St. John Street and 4th Avenue. A 39 year-old male pedestrian was struck by an eastbound vehicle; the victim was taken to hospital, by EMS, with injuries described as serious. Preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was on the west side of St. John Streetand crossing 4th Avenue from south to north. The pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Cressida, driven by a 21 year-old male driver, which was travelling east-bound on 4th Avenue in the left driving lane. Police closed the roadway until shortly after 12:00 p.m. in order to take measurements of the scene and gather data and any roadway evidence.
The victim remains in hospital. At this time, alcohol is not believed to be a factor. It is not known, at this stage, what charges, if any may result. This investigation is ongoing.
