Two males, a 19 year-old and a 17 year-old, have been charged following investigation into incidents of mischief and a break and enter that occurred overnight, June 11-12, 2012.
At approximately, 2:55 a.m. today: Tuesday, June 12, 2012, police were dispatched to the 3400 block of Westgate Drive for a report of males spray painting a vehicle. Police arrived and found a van with blue spray paint on it. Officers obtained a description of possible suspects. In conducting an area search, another police officer was waved down near the Regina Islamic Centre, in the 3200 block Montague Street, for a report of damage to that building. Investigation revealed a broken window and the word “Satan” spray-painted on the west-side wall in blue paint. The paint appeared to be the same as that used on the vehicle in the 3400 block of Westgate Drive. Officers then went to Kinsmen Park in the 3300 block of Kings Road and discovered more blue-paint graffiti and items scattered around the park. Two of the park buildings had been broken into and blue paint sprayed inside. Beer bottles had been smashed on the play structure and there was broken glass throughout the play area. The officers proceeded towards Kiwanis Park and came upon two very intoxicated males in the area of Regina Avenue and Montague Street. The males matched the description of the suspects. Further investigation led to their arrests and charges against a 17 year-old male youth and a 19 year-old adult male.
Nineteen year-old Cole Taylor MIHIAL, DOB: 1993-04-23, of Regina is charged with Break and Enter to Commit Mischief [348(1)(b) CC] and two charges of Mischief under $5,000 [430(4) CC]. A 17 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing the same three charges. Both made their first court appearances (Provincial Court and Youth Court) at 2:00 p.m. today, June 12, 2012.
