Two female children, a four year-old and two year-old, are in hospital and the Regina Police Service has begun an investigation into their alleged abuse and neglect.
On Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at approximately 12:10 a.m., police were dispatched to hospital for a report of a four year-old girl who’d been brought to hospital in an unresponsive state. The child was revived but remains in hospital in critical condition. Preliminary investigation indicated the child is victim of abuse and neglect. Two caregivers to the child, a 35 year-old female and a 37 year-old male, were taken into custody at the hospital. In the course of the investigation, police learned that the child has a two year-old female sibling; that child was located at a residence in the 34500 block of 6th Avenue North. The two year-old was also taken to hospital and it’s believed this child is also the victim of abuse and neglect.
Charges against the 35 year-old female and 37 year-old male are pending. Investigation is ongoing. Police are currently holding a residence on Andrews Crescent, believing it be a possible location of the alleged offences. Investigators have already conducted numerous interviews in this case but, as always, are encouraging anyone, who may have information to add, to contact the Regina Police Service at 777-6500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
