The Regina Police Service congratulates the recipients of Regina Police Service Awards, presented today to 15 civilians and 25 police officers to thank them for their contributions to the community, policing and public safety. The event was held at the Delta Regina, Umbria Room, today, Thursday, January 24, 2013.
The award recipients are:
Cst. Shannon Bates – Chief’s Commendation for saving the life of an individual attempting to commit suicide;
Mr. Bill Heard – Special Service Award for 24 years’ volunteer service with RPS Victim Services;
Cst. Graham Borne – Meritorious Performance Award for helping a lost child;
Former Mayor Pat Fiacco, former BPC members Sharron Bryce and Shelley Lavallee; BPC members Wade Murray and Ron Rasmussen, Chief Marlo Pritchard, Inspector Darren Wilcox, Sgt. Colleen Hall, Ms. Elaine Gohlke and Ms. Patti Grant – Teamwork Award for their work in hosting the 2011 Canadian Association of Board of Police Commissioners Conference in Regina.
Cpl. Tracey Dunnigan, Cpl. Chad Bourassa, Cpl. Candace Benko, Sgt. Peter Gee, retired S/Sgt. Brian Wilkinson, Ms. Lisa Miller, Mr. Getachew Woldyesus and Mr. C.J. Gibson – Community Policing Award for their work in producing educational videos and booklets for newcomers to Regina;
Mr. Isaiah Dawson – Special Service Award for his role in controlling the scene of a collision and rendering assistance;
Sgt. Cameron Kuffner, Sgt. Jason Gunderson, Cpl. Jody Lorence, Cpl. James Tunison, Cst. Steven Wyatt, Cst. Stuart Keshane and Cst. Derrick Fox – Teamwork Award for their work in planning and hosting the 2012 Canadian Police Canine Association Championship Trials in Regina;
Cst. Theresa Davies and Cst. Alan Griffiths – Meritorious Performance Award for their actions in preventing an armed robbery;
Cst. Anthony Rodier – Community Policing Award for his work in addressing the problem of graffiti in the Cathedral neighbourhood;
Cst. Joshua Ethier, Cst. Jordan Kelsch, Cst. Michael Seel, Cst. Steven Norton, Ms. Nicole Ferraton, Ms. Maria Zacharuk and Mr. Ryan Bellamy – Meritorious Performance Award for their roles in locating an individual who was threatening suicide and saving her life;
Cst. James Griffiths – Meritorious Performance Award for diligence and persistence in locating a girl (San Diego, California) who was threatening harm to herself, and notifying local authorities;
Ms. Shelley Lavallee – Special Service Award for her 17 years of service to the citizens of Regina in her role as a member of the Regina Board of Police Commissioners.
