A 25 year-old Regina male is facing a number of charges in connection with two assaults.
Late Sunday evening, April 7th, 2013, police were dispatched to a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence in the 1200 Block of Argyle Street. A 37 year-old female alleged that she was the victim of a physical assault and had been attacked by a male wielding an axe. Fortunately, the victim did not require medical treatment. The suspect was gone upon arrival but police took statements and were alerted to a second call, involving the same suspect, in the area of the 2000 Block of St John Street. Police located the suspect as he was assaulting a 20-year-old female. The suspect fled the scene and a Canine unit was brought in to track him. He was located successfully a short distance from the second scene. The suspect was transported to hospital for minor injuries. The suspect and the victims are all known to each other.
Twenty-five year old Jason Lee BIRD, DOB: 1988/01/05, of Regina, is charged with Assault [CC 266], Assault with Weapon [CC267 (a)], Uttering Threats [CC 264.1 (1)(a)], two counts of Breach of Probation [CC733.1 (1)] and three counts of Failure To Comply [CC 145 (3)]. While receiving medical attention, it is alleged that BIRD damaged hospital property. BIRD is also charged with Mischief under $5,000 [CC 430 (4)].
BIRD appeared in Provincial Court this morning, Monday, April 8th, at 9:30.
