A 29 year-old Regina female has been charged with Second Degree Murder in connection with the death of a 24 year-old woman on Thursday, October 31, 2013. This is the 8th homicide in Regina in 2013.
Police have completed the notification of the family of the 24 year-old deceased victim; she is Cassandra Joan DESJARLAIS, DOB: 1989-10-19, of Regina.
Police were dispatched after a call this morning at 2:49 a.m., to the 700 block of Athol Street, for a report of two females fighting in the street. Police and EMS arrived and found a female victim, who had been seriously injured. EMS transported the victim to hospital, but she was pronounced deceased a short time later. Police investigation led to the arrest of a 29 year-old female; a person known to the victim. Police released the scene at approximately 4:22 p.m. this afternoon.
The accused is 29 year-old Brianna Joyce WESAQUATE, DOB: 1984-08-18, of Regina. WESAQUATE is charged with Second Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. WESAQUATE will make her first appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, November 1, 2013.
