The Regina Police Service can now advise the public that the death of a 22 year-old female, whose body was discovered in a drainage ditch just west of Albert Street at 1st Avenue, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, although tragic, is not a criminal case.
The Regina Police Service received word today that the autopsy, as ordered by the Coroner, shows no signs of injury or foul play. The cause of death is pending further testing as ordered by the Coroner.
Although the investigation is continuing, the role of the Regina Police Service is now simply to assist the Office of the Chief Coroner, as required. From a police perspective, there is no evidence of a criminal aspect in this case. The Regina Police Service will continue to assist the Coroner in order that the family of the deceased be provided as complete an understanding as possible of the circumstances of this death.
