Two adults, a 30 year-old male and a 23 year-old female, were charged on the weekend with a number of weapons-related charges in connection to a vehicle stop and the recovery of a sawed-off shotgun.
On Saturday, April 19, 2014, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police were in the area of Montague Street and 1st Avenue when they observed a vehicle driving on the bike path. Officers followed the vehicle eastbound on 1st Avenue and, activating lights, attempted to stop the suspect vehicle at Cameron and 1st. The vehicle did not stop and police continued to follow (both vehicles within speed limit) with lights and siren activated. The vehicle eventually stopped at Albert Street and the west exit of the Northgate Mall parking lot. Police removed the male driver and female passenger from the vehicle and a search of the vehicle located a sawed-off shotgun.
