On November 3, 2014, at approximately 8:35 p.m. police observed a vehicle travelling westbound on Victoria Avenue that matched the description of a vehicle that evaded officers the week prior. Police followed for a short period, then activated emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle took off, continuing at a high rate of speed westbound on 12th Avenue. The vehicle was located abandoned at the 1800 block of Montreal Street a short time later. One female suspect was located in the area. The investigation is ongoing.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at approximately 3:30 a.m. police observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen pulling into a residence at Donahue Avenue and Halleran Crescent. Occupants of the vehicle fled, and all suspects – two males and a female- were tracked by canine and apprehended.
Twenty-nine year-old Andrew Barry LOOS (DOB: 1985/03/05) is charged with Fail to Comply [145(3) CC] and two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 [355(B) CC].
Twenty-three year-old Shelley Kayla-Ann KAY (DOB: 1991/07/01) is charged with Fail to Comply [145(3) CC] and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 [355(B) CC].
LOOS and KAY made their first appearance in court today, November 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
A 17 year-old female, who will not be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged in this incident with Fail to Comply [145(3) CC], Possession of Break-in Instruments [351(1) CC], and two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 [355(B) CC].
The Youth made her first appearance today, November 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Youth Provincial Court.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at approximately 4:30 a.m. police observed a suspicious vehicle travelling northbound on Elphinstone and Avonhurst Drive. Police followed the vehicle and observed the lone occupant, then attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. By this time, the vehicle was on 6th Avenue North, did not stop, and instead accelerated eastbound on 6th Avenue North. Due to the risk to public safety, police stopped following. A short time later the vehicle was located again and followed to where it was abandoned on the 0-99 block of Brockelbank Crescent. Canine tracked and located the suspect, a 14 year-old male, who was apprehended and arrested.
The 14 year-old male, who will not be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with Flight While Pursued by Police Officer [249.1(1) CC] and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime [355 CC].
The youth made his first appearance today, November 4, 2014, at Youth Court at 2:00 p.m at Youth Provincial Court.
