The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, can now confirm that the death of a 33 year-old female, at a residence on Ingersoll Crescent, is now a homicide investigation. A 26 year-old male has been charged in connection with this case. This is the fourth homicide in Regina in 2015.
On Sunday May 24, 2015 at approximately 8:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 10 block of Ingersoll Crescent in Regina for a report of a deceased female. Police and EMS located the female and she was confirmed deceased. The ensuing investigation, involving the Coroner, the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units, with support from other units, determined that the death is a homicide. Investigation also led to the arrest, without incident, of a 26 year-old Regina male. He has been charged in connection with the homicide.
The victim has been identified as 33 year-old Celeste YAWNEY, 1981-07-06, of Regina. Her family was notified yesterday of her death.
Twenty-six year-old Duran Justin REDWOOD, DOB: 1988-10-04, of Regina is charged with Second Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. REDWOOD will make his first court appearance on the charge in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 25, 2015.
