After a lengthy investigation, on June 22, 2015, Regina Police Commercial Crimes Unit charged an employee of a used car lot in Regina with fraud related charges. The accused is alleged to have used his position as manager of used car sales to defraud the company of funds stemming from the sale and leasing of used vehicles. The company, which employed the accused, discovered irregularities with its record keeping and inventory which led to the criminal investigation. The alleged offences date back to the fall of 2014.
Forty-three year-old Chris Barrett WHELAN, DOB: 1971-08-23, of Regina, is charged with:
Fraud Over $5,000.00, Section 380 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
Forgery – Make a False Document, Section 366(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
Use a Forged Document, Section 368(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
WHELAN made his initial court appearance in Provincial Court on June 22, 2015.
