In anticipation of a large turnout for the Canada Day Fireworks Display on July 1, 2015, the Regina Police Service has a traffic plan that will include some road closures, traffic restrictions and parking enforcement. As in past years, spectators will have the opportunity to view the fireworks display from the Albert Street Bridge. The bridge will become a pedestrian-only zone from approximately 9:30 p.m. to approximately 11:00 p.m. There will be barricades diverting vehicle traffic on Albert Street at College Avenue and Regina Avenue, leaving a pedestrian-only zone in between. Motorists are asked to park legally and responsibly and avoid stopping on roadways or parking illegally in order to watch the fireworks display.
Regina residents and visitors are reminded not to leave valuables inside parked vehicles. Take the necessary precautions to secure your property and lock your vehicles. If you plan to celebrate with friends and consume alcohol, please don’t drive!
The Canada Day Fireworks Display is a family-oriented celebration but it will also be a busy one. Make sure young children are supervised by parents, older siblings or trusted caregivers and discuss a safety plan should members of your group become separated. As always, in an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
The Regina Police Service wishes everyone a Happy Canada Day! Whether you travel or take in the festivities here at home, stay safe!
