Three males are facing charges including sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, procuring and human trafficking following an investigation by Regina Police Service patrol and vice members.
This investigation began on Saturday, November 28, 2015, as the result of information obtained by Regina Police Service that a 24 year-old female was being held against her will. Police were able to make contact with the victim and learned more about the nature of the offences alleged to have been committed. These included sexual assault with a weapon, assault and forcible confinement. Further investigation led to the arrest of three male suspects; ages 22, 24 and 25; at a downtown hotel. Subsequent investigation led to numerous charges against the male suspects.
Twenty-five year-old Jonathan David CAMPBELL, DOB: 1990-08-12, of Edmonton, Alberta is charged with:
- Sexual Assault with a Weapon, sec. 272(1)(a) CC;
- Exercise Control, Direction or Influence over the Movements of a Person for the Purpose of Exploiting Them or Facilitating their Exploitation (Human Trafficking), sec. 279.01(1)(a) CC;
- Assault, sec. 266 CC;
- Breach of Recognizance, sec. 145(3) CC;
- Forcible Confinement, sec. 279(2) CC;
- Receive Financial Benefit, Knowing it is Obtained from the Commission of an Offence, sec. 279.02 CC;
- Procuring, sec. 286.3(1) CC.
Twenty-two year-old Abdirahman KAHIN, DOB: 1992-12-01, of Regina, is charged with:
- Sexual Assault with a Weapon, sec. 272(1)(a) CC;
- Exercise Control, Direction or Influence over the Movements of a Person for the Purpose of Exploiting Them or Facilitating their Exploitation (Human Trafficking), sec. 279.01(1)(a) CC;
- Receive Financial Benefit, Knowing it is Obtained from the Commission of an Offence, sec. 279.02 CC;
- Breach of Probation, sec. 733.1(1) CC;
- Forcible Confinement, sec. 279(2) CC;
- Sexual Assault, sec. 271 CC; and
- Procuring, sec. 286.3(1) CC.
Twenty-four year-old Jama Jibril ROBLE, DOB: 1991-01-01, of Ottawa, Ontario, is charged with:
- Sexual Assault with a Weapon, sec. 272(1)(a) CC;
- Exercise Control, Direction or Influence over the Movements of a Person for the Purpose of Exploiting Them or Facilitating their Exploitation (Human Trafficking), sec. 279.01(1)(a) CC;
- Receive Financial Benefit, Knowing it is Obtained from the Commission of an Offence, sec. 279.02 CC;
- Assault, sec. 266 CC;
- Obstruct Peace Officer, sec. 129(a) CC;
- Breach of Probation, sec. 733.1(1) CC;
- Forcible Confinement, sec. 279(2) CC;
- Sexual Assault, sec. 271 CC; and
- Procuring, sec. 286.3(1) CC.
All three accused made their first appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today, Monday, November 30, 2015.
