On December 12, 2015, just before midnight, police were dispatched to the area of 4th Avenue and Rae Street where a group of young people were reportedly impeding the flow of traffic and trying to open vehicle doors.
While police were investigating this matter, they received another call shortly after, again reporting a group of young people in the same area. In this area, a young male was reportedly threatening a resident on the 1000 block of Retallack Street.
Within minutes of responding to the 1000 block of Retallack Street, police located two fourteen year-old males and a sixteen year-old male, all of Regina. One of the males was in possession of a pellet gun. After investigation, the males were arrested and subsequently charged with the following offences:
A 14 year-old male is charged with:
- Uttering Threats [264.1(1)(A) CC]
- Fail to Comply [137 YCJA]
A 14 year-old male is charged with:
- Fail to Comply [137 YCJA]
A 16 year-old male, is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [88 CC]
- Fail to Comply [137 YCJA]
- Fail to Comply [145(5.1) CC]
- Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]
The males will not be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.The youths made their first appearance on these charges today, December 14th, 2015, at 9:30 a.m.
Because of time, proximity, and description of events and suspects, police believe these two incidents are likely related. Police continue to investigate. However, there is no indication that a firearm was involved in either of the above two reported incidents.
