The Regina Police Service continues to assist the Office of the Chief Coroner in the investigation of a two-vehicle, fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred last night (Tuesday, December 8, 2015) on the #1 Bypass between the Wascana Parkway and Albert Street exits. A 17 year-old female is deceased as a result of this event.
On Tuesday, December 8, 2015, Police were dispatched at about 7:35 p.m. to the #1 Bypass for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a south-bound car, driven by a 17 year-old female, and a north-bound semi-truck, driven by a 44 year-old male. EMS also attended and confirmed that the female driver of the car was deceased. Neither the driver of the semi nor his passenger were injured in the collision. The preliminary investigation has determined the direction of travel of the vehicles: south-bound car, north-bound semi-truck; and indicates the car travelled through the ditch and into the path of the semi. It is not believed that alcohol, speed or road conditions were contributing factors. The family of the deceased victim has been notified of her death; the deceased victim’s name will not be released at this time.
The Office of the Chief Coroner, with the assistance of the Regina Police Service, will continue to investigate the circumstances of this tragic collision.
