Investigation is continuing into the circumstances of the death of a 48 year-old male, who was found in a burned house in the 300 block of Markwell Drive on Friday, January 22, 2016. At this time, the death investigation is being led by the Office of the Chief Coroner, with the Regina Police Service assisting, as required. The investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is being carried out by Regina Fire and Protective Services.
As the result of the combined investigative efforts, to date, of the Office of the Chief Coroner, Regina Fire and Protective Services and the Regina Police Service, there is not an indication, at this time, that this is a criminal case. The investigation by the Office of the Chief Coroner continues. The deceased person is a 48 year-old Regina male. His name will not be released by the Regina Police Service. Regina Fire and Protective Services will speak to their findings in the fire investigation. Police are no longer holding the scene.
