The Regina Police Service Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) was called out to investigate railway explosive signal devices that were found at a residence on Donahue Avenue.
On May 24th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. police were called to a home on Donahue Avenue by the homeowner who found a bag of railway explosive signal devices. Responding officers requested the assistance of the Explosives Disposal Unit and secured the area. Explosives Disposal Unit members arrived at the scene recovered the railway explosive signal devices and rendered them safe without any risk to the public.
An event such as this one serves as a reminder to the public to avoid handling any object that looks suspicious. Call police in these circumstances; officers will be dispatched. If necessary, additional emergency services personal, who are specially trained and equipped to deal with potential explosive devices, will be sent to investigate.
