On June 25th, 2016, at approximately 8:45 pm., police observed a stolen vehicle occupied by two males on 15th Avenue and Broder Street, and followed the vehicle to the 1700 block of Montreal Street, where the two males exited the vehicle and were pursued on foot by police and a canine unit. The two males were apprehended, and one of the males, a 16 year-old, was arrested and charged. The other was released with no charges at this time.
The male youth charged in these cases cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 16 year-old male accused is facing a charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [355(A) CC], Theft Over $5,000 [334(A) CC], Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer [249.1(1) CC], and three charges of Failure to Comply [137 YCJA].
The youth makes his first appearance on these charges in Youth Provincial Court today, June 27th, 2016 at 9:30 am.
