On Friday, June 3rd, 2016, the Regina Police Service engaged in police enforcement in the city of Regina related to a two-month covert investigation. The Joint Unit Operation was conducted by the Integrated Drug Enforcement Street Team and the Street Gang Unit.
The investigation, “Project SHRED” was a public safety initiative. The investigation was as a direct result of a series of violent offences that occurred in Regina involving persons identified in drug trafficking activity.
On June 3rd, 2016, individuals identified during the operation were arrested and charged for a series of Criminal Code offences including Robbery with Violence, Extortion, and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. A number of individuals, including several members of the Native Syndicate Street Gang, were arrested during the investigation. Nine males, between the ages of 18 and 40, appeared in Provincial Court today.
Evidence collected during the two month public safety operation included: a firearm, ammunition, replica firearms, machete, Canadian currency and Controlled Substances including Fentanyl, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Morphine and Marihuana.
Nine males arrested during “Project SHRED” made court appearances at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016. There were twenty charges read in court today in connection with this project. Thirty-five year-old Jeremy John Arnold, DOB: 1981-03-11, of Regina, faces seven charges including Instructing Commission of Criminal Offence for Criminal Organization [467.13(1) CC]. Each of the other eight male accused faces a charge of Participation in a Criminal Organization [467.11 CC]. The investigation is ongoing.
