On August 19, 2016, at approximately 2:45 a.m., police were dispatched to a residence on the 2000 block of St John Street for the report of a home invasion. Police learned that a 48 year-old male was awakened by a loud banging at the back door. He got up to encounter four male suspects entering the house, and two of the suspects pushed him to the ground, assaulting him. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm, and demanded money. The 48 year-old male handed over cash, and all four suspects fled the scene out the back door, into the alley. Suspects are described as four masked males, one armed with firearm, another with bladed weapon, and another with baton. The male with the baton was about 5’9”, Aboriginal; wearing a grey sweater, black hat, black mask, blue jeans and black shoes.
