A thirty year-old Regina male is facing charges as the result of investigations into stolen property at the University of Regina.
In recent months, the Regina Police Service has received several reports of theft of property, mainly electronics, from within buildings at the University of Regina. As a result of ongoing Break/Enter and Theft investigations, on the evening of September 22, 2016, officers from the Regina Police Service Property Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on a residence on the 1300 block of Athol Street. Numerous items were recovered along with numerous keys for rooms in University buildings. The male suspect was arrested without incident and is now facing numerous charges in connection with these incidents.
Thirty year-old Joseph Robert Ronald BONNENFANT (DOB: 1986/05/26), of Regina, is facing a total of 21 charges, which are:
- 9 charges of Break Enter & Commit [Sec 348(1)(B), CC];
- Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 [Sec 355.2, CC];
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 [Sec 355(A), CC];
- 10 charges of Fail to Comply with Undertaking [Sec 145(3), CC].
BONNENFANT made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, September 23, 2016, at 9:30 a.m.
