Robbery, Theft & PossessionTraffic & Motor vehicle incidents

Three people: an 18 year-old female, and two males, ages 23 and 51; are facing charges as the result of investigations into reports of dangerous driving, a theft and a vehicle stolen out of Saskatoon.

Regina Police members first became involved in this investigation at about 1:37 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, when police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Hillsdale Street for a suspected stolen auto.  Police arrived to see a black Dodge truck being driven erratically in a parking lot.  The responding officer, in an unmarked unit, was able to observe the truck driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Wascana Parkway.  Another officer, further north on Broad Street, saw the same vehicle travelling at a high speed at College Avenue and Broad Street.  The vehicle was spotted two more times, ultimately ending up stopped in the 2000 block of Ottawa Street.  When officers approached with emergency equipment activated, the truck reversed, striking a power pole, and then advanced, nearly striking a police officer.    Due to the unpredictable driver actions, police units disengaged and the suspect vehicle fled.
A short time later, at about 3:28 a.m., April 5th, police were dispatched to a residence in the North-West of the city for an unwanted guest call.  A 51 year-old male at that address was found to be the subject of warrants issued by another police agency.  The male was placed under arrest.  Further investigation into this person’s activities led to the belief that there was a connection between this individual and the truck involved in the earlier event.
On April 5th, at approximately 6:26 a.m., the Communications Centre received a call of a theft of gasoline from a service station in the city’s east end.  The vehicle description matched that of the suspect vehicle in the earlier evade-police incident.  Police were able to obtain descriptions of two suspects and license plate information.
On April 5th, at about 12:45 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Mawson Bay.  The vehicle was a truck, with rear-end damage, matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the previous incidents.  Continued investigation led to confirmation that the truck was stolen from Saskatoon.  Officers were able to confirm that two persons, matching the suspect descriptions, had entered a residence on Hopkins Bay.  At approximately 2:30 p.m., the occupants exited the house and were taken into custody without incident.  Coordinated investigation into these events led to a number of charges against three individuals.

Eighteen year old (female) Taylor Chase GENAILLE (DOB: 1998/09/19), of Regina, is charged with:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 [Sec 355(A), CC];
Two charges of Theft Under $5000 [Sec 334(B), CC].

Twenty-three year old Jonathan Nathan SHORE (DOB: 1994/01/06), of Regina, is charged with:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 [Sec 355(A), CC];
Two charges of Theft Under $5000 [Sec 334(B), CC];
Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer [Sec 249.1(1), CC];
Fail to Comply with Probation Order [Sec 733.1(1).

Fifty-one year old Grant James REEVES (DOB: 1965/06/13), of Regina, is charged with:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 [Sec 355(A), CC];
Theft Under $5000 [Sec 334(B), CC].

GENAILLE, SHORE and REEVES all made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court on April 6, 2017, at 9:30 a.m.
