The Regina Police Service can now confirm that a death investigation, begun the evening of January 23, 2018, is now a homicide investigation. This is the first homicide in Regina in 2018.
The deceased person has been identified as 27 year-old Richard Francis Paul BEAR of Regina. His family has been notified of his death and investigators continue to have contact with family members to keep them apprised of developments in the case.
Police were dispatched at approximately 8:26 p.m., on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, to the 1000 block of Retallack Street for a report of an injured male who was lying outside a residence. Police and EMS attended and located an adult male, who was confirmed deceased. Officers secured the immediate area and requested the additional resources of the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units, as well as the Coroner. The investigation is continuing, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner. There is no one charged in connection with this case at this time. There are no other details for release at this time.
