A 15 year-old youth, has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of incidents on March 11, 2018, which included shots being discharged into two dwellings and damage to several vehicles in the area of the 1300 block of Athol Street. This person is the second individual charged in connection with these offences. Earlier this month, a 16 year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with the same incidents.
On March 22, 2018, at about 5:00 p.m., a Regina Police Service member spotted a male subject, in the 3100 block of Dewdney Avenue. This male was known to be the subject of several outstanding warrants, including charges involving the discharge of firearms. The male ran from police, but a canine team was used to track the suspect to a house in the 1500 block of Garnet Street. Police were able to take the suspect into custody, without incident.
The 15 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
– Eleven (11) charges of Mischief under $5,000, s. 430(4) CC;
– Possession of a Firearm, contrary to prohibition order, s. 117.01(1) CC; and
– Discharge a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm, at a place in a reckless manner, s. 244.2(1)(a) CC.
The accused will make his first court appearance on these charges in Youth Court at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 (today).
