The Regina Police Service is still investigating an incident on April 1, 2018, in which a male sustained injuries consistent with a firearm discharge. Police were dispatched at about 1:30 a.m. on April 1st, for a report of an injured male in the 1000 block of Wascana Street. The 30 year-old male was taken to hospital with injuries described a non-life-threatening.
Further investigation into this incident indicates some inconsistencies with the information initially provided to police. The evidence obtained at this stage in the investigation indicates the wound may have been accidental, possibly self-inflicted. Police do not believe that this event poses any increased risk to the general public. This investigation is continuing.
