On Sunday, May 27, at approximately 7:50 pm, police were dispatched to Broad Street and Dewdney Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian.
Police arrived to find a 26 year-old female with an infant approximately one year of age, a 51 year-old male, and several others on the scene. It was learned that the 26 year-old female was crossing Dewdney Avenue on foot, pushing a baby carriage occupied by the infant, when a vehicle, driven by the 51 year-old male, made a left turn from the northbound lane of Broad Street onto the westbound lane of Dewdney Avenue, and collided with the woman and infant. The male stopped and checked on the injured female and infant, and waited on scene. EMS attended to the female and infant, whose injuries were described as non-life threatening.
The driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act with Fail to Yield to a Pedestrian.
