On June 8, 2018, at approximately 5:20 am, police were dispatched to the 8200 block of Fairways West Drive for a suspicious persons report. Two males were seen trying door handles of cars in the area.
A member of the RPS Canine Unit arrived, and despite the police member’s commands to stop, both males fled. A canine track led to a discarded wallet, and, subsequently, one of the suspects, a sixteen year-old male, in the 8300 block of Fairways West Drive. The Police Service Dog (PSD) made contact with the male, and the male was arrested.
A canine track in the area led to the second suspect, an eighteen year-old male, located under a deck after the PSD made contact. The male came out from under the deck and was arrested.
EMS was initially requested due to contact with the PSD, but was cancelled as injuries to both suspects were very minor.
