On Monday, July 2nd, 2018, at approximately 8:00 am, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Wascana Street for a report of a male victim who had been threatened with a loaded firearm. The victim was inside a home in the 1300 block of Wascana Street when an argument ensued between himself and another male in the home. The suspect during the argument loaded a firearm and pointed it at the victim while levying threats to shoot the victim. Eventually, the victim was able to escape the confines of the home and contact the police. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.
The Regina Police Service surrounded the home and was able to remove some of the home’s occupants via communication. Police then entered the home to apprehend the lone suspect. While in the home, the Regina Police Service located the loaded firearm.
Jason BIRD (1988/01/05) was charged with:
- Weapons dangerous
- Assault with a weapon
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Use a firearm in a commission of an offense
- Tampering with a serial number on a firearm
A previous warrant for the arrest of BIRD was also executed.
BIRD will attend court on July 3rd, 2018.
