Two males have been charged, following a Break & Enter/Home Invasion that occurred on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in the 1200 block of Angus Street.
Police were dispatched at about 4:50 p.m. on August 5, 2018, to a residence in the 1200 block of Angus Street for a report of as many as four persons breaking into a house and smashing windows. It was reported that one of the suspects may have a firearm. Several units were dispatched to the address and arrived as a number of people were seen running from the house. These individuals were located and spoken with. As police gathered more information about the event they learned that what was reported as a firearm was a crowbar, left in the residence by one of the suspects. It appears the suspects were there believing an individual who owed them money was present at that location. Two of the suspects were arrested and charged for the home invasion.
Forty-nine year-old Melvin George GORDON and 27 year-old John Michael CYR, both of Regina, are charged with Break and Enter/Home Invasion [348(1)(a) CC]. In addition, John Michael CYR is charged with a Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. Both accused made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
